Local Tales By Local Folks is The Bridge Street History Centers newest event  series in our ongoing effort to preserve our rich local history.

Ian and Melinda Patrick will host a talk on archaeology on April 16, 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m. The couple are both professional archaeologists with over 20 years of experience working throughout the western United States. Mr. Patrick currently works for the City of Granbury as a City Planner and Historic Preservation Officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a master’s degree in Geographic Information Systems Technology (GIST).

Ms. Patrick holds a bachelor’s degree in Anthropology and a master’s degree in Historical Archaeology. She is currently employed as a Principal Investigator for a cultural resource management firm.

The discussion will focus on the practice of archaeology and how it is applied to managing heritage resources. They will touch on what archaeology is, federal and state regulations guiding the field, how archaeology studies are conducted, and provide hands-on activities with artifacts.
